The departure of Santiago Solari from Club América after leaving the club standing last in Clausura 2022 with only six points after nine rounds is not the only move needed in Las Águilas, as the Azulcremas followers have been demanding the dismissal of Santiago Baños too.

Although Solari was the responsible of the poor results of the current season, the Club América chairman is the responsible of the current crisis in which Las Águilas are, as he hasn’t been able to find the right players, sign the deals needed and create a space in which the players can thrive.

The problem is not only on this season, given that since he arrived in Club América, in 2017, Las Águilas have won just one Liga MX title -Apertura 2018-, when Miguel Herrera was still coaching América. Since then, they haven’t won another title and have lost two finals, far from the statistics needed in a club like América.

That’s why Emilio Azcárraga is considering parting ways with Baños, as neither the senior squad nor the academy teams have been able to succeed, given that in recent seasons only Santiago Naveda has been able to debut with the first team.

What will happen to América if Baños leaves?

His departure will also propitiate that some of the players he acquired have their days numbered, given that they haven’t found the expected regularity when they first arrived. The first player on the list is Jordan Silva, as the Mexican has been irregular, to say the least and often is involved in mistakes that have turned into goals against Las Águilas.

Other players that won’t be playing for Club América next season are Roger Martínez and Federico Viñas, as they have lost the protagonist role which they had in past seasons and have become failed experiments.

Who will arrive to América if Baños leaves?

Although it hasn’t made official yet, rumors are suggesting that it won’t be long until Azcárraga decides to fire Baños, which has linked a few names to Las Águilas. Some of the most prominent names are Ricardo Ferretti and Daniel Brailovsky, but the latter seems to be the favorite to take over the role. And even if he ends up keeping Baños in the structure, Brailovsky could arrive as a sporting assessor that oversees every aspect of both the first team and the academy teams.
