It’s clear that Club América needs to do some changes on their structure if they want to leave the crisis in which they currently are. Although they already sacked Santiago Solari, as his stay in Las Águilas bench was unsustainable, there’s more moves coming in the next weeks.

Although Solari was the main responsible for the bad results on the pitch, Santiago Baños also needs to be held accountable, given that he’s the sporting director of Club América and his decisions have been a detriment to Las Águilas.

The Azulcremas have won just one Liga MX title since Baños arrived in 2017 and for Clausura 2022 they’re having one of their worst participations in Mexican soccer, at least since they were acquired by the Azcárraga family, as they currently stand last with only six points after nine rounds.

Emilio Azcárraga is aware that a change is urgently needed, which is why Daniel “Ruso” Brailovsky is presumed to arrive in Las Águilas to turn things around for the next season, as he’s expected to have a protagonist role within América’s structure, leaving Santiago Baños like a decorative piece.

What’s some of the first decisions that Brailovsky will take?

According to reports, “Ruso” Brailovsky is aware that the things for which Las Águilas were known for currently are forgotten: their academy teams and having players of world renown, something he’ll manage to change.

That’s why his first decision will be improve the academy teams by establishing a different organization from the one that they currently have. That will mean that Raúl Herrera, who arrived in 2020 out of Villarreal but hasn’t been able to debut more than a couple players in the first team, will have to leave El Nido, although he’s not the only one that won’t be part of Club América for the next season.

Who else are leaving Las Águilas?

Brailovsky knows that what América needs are players that feel the colors and give their best through the duration of the match, something that the players on the current roster don’t do. Names like Mauro Lainez, who already was erased by Fernando Ortíz from the first team, are having their last season with Las Águilas.

Other players he considers don’t have what it takes to be part of a team like Club América are Diego Valdez, whose performances influenced in the departure of Solari, Roger Martínez, Richard Sánchez, Henry Martín and Luis Fuentes, who haven’t showed the will to play in Las Águilas.
