Since Ricardo Cadena was promoted as interim coach of Chivas to replace Marcelo Michel Leaño, El Rebaño Sagrado remains unbeaten, as they’ve managed to beat Cruz Azul and Pumas in Mexico City and Xolos de Tijuana in Estadio Akron.

Prior to his arrival, Chivas had little to no options to make it into Repechaje, as they only won three games out of the 12 that Michel Leaño coached; they also tied five games that had them standing 14 with the same number of points.

But now with Cadena in command, El Rebaño Sagrado has ensured their presence in Repechaje, and on the final game of the regular season they will try to beat Club Necaxa to earn the home advantage in the only Repechaje game.

Amaury Vergara knows that the best option for Chivas for the near future is to keep Ricardo Cadena in the dugout, as the team under his wing is playing with the intensity needed to become protagonists, and he also knows the academy and reserves players that could strengthen the squad.

Acevedo could arrive at Chivas

But Cadena also knows that there’s some positions that need to be strengthened with players from outside El Rebaño, such as the goalkeeper, given that Raúl Gudiño won’t renew with Chivas and is set to leave once Clausura 2022 is over.

That’s why they’ve revived their interest in Carlos Acevedo, who is looking to be part of the final roster of El Tri, something he knows will be easier to achieve if he’s playing for one of the biggest teams in Liga MX, just like Chivas.

And even if he’s said that his goal is to play in Europe -reports suggest that he’s been followed by Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven- Chivas could open the door to his move to Europe, as it will be a bigger showcase than Santos Laguna.

What are Acevedo’s conditions to arrive at Chivas?

For starters, he wants to establish a clause on his contract that will let him leave for Europe if an offer arrives, as he doesn’t want to cut short his dreams. The second and last condition is to have a similar salary than the one he currently earns in Santos, around $1 million per season.
