After defeating Club América in the semifinals by a 4-1 aggregate, CF Pachuca visited Estadio Jalisco to face Atlas FC in the first leg of the final of Clausura 2022, with the objective of preventing Atlas from becoming the third Liga MX team winning back-to-back championships.

After the Atlas vs Pachuca, Julio Furch could be closer to Club America. What is he asking of the Aguilas?

Atlas arrived at the game having eliminated Tigres in the semifinals, where they beat Los Felinos 3-0 in the first leg and lost 4-2 in the second leg, as the aggregate benefited the Rojinegros, who are after their second title in the same number of seasons after 71 years without winning Liga MX.

But even if Pachuca and Atlas were two of the most solid teams throughout the season and that they rightfully earned their presence in the final by eliminating two of the most mediatic teams in Liga MX, people don’t seem as interested in the game.

That’s the reason why, during the Media Day prior the first leg of the series, the questions asked to the protagonists of the final were about rumors and things outside Clausura 2022, especially given the interest of América and Tigres to acquire players from both teams.

Pachuca at risk of losing a player to Club América

One of the players that gathered more attention was Victor Guzmán, who has become one of the best players in Pachuca and could be on the move to one of the biggest teams in Liga MX, as the talent that he has could receive a bigger showcase in a different team.

During an interview with W Deportes, the 27-year-old offensive midfielder was asked about the interest that Club América has in him, as reports have suggested recently, and if he was willing to play for Las Águilas, especially with the potential departure of Pedro Aquino.

“Pocho” Guzmán, who is under contract with Pachuca for one more year, said that he would consider playing for Club América if a good offer arrived for him, a surprising confession given his past in Chivas de Guadalajara.

Victor Guzmán’s market value

According to Transfermarkt, given the good performances that he’s had in the past year, his market value has increased exponentially, as it went from $5 million in October to $8.3 million in April. América will have to pay at least $8 million for him, although both parties know that if he arrives, he will have more chances of playing for Mexico National Team.
