Chivas are already planning the 2022-23 Liga MX season after being eliminated from Clausura 2022 in quarterfinals by Atlas FC, who stopped the good streak that El Rebaño Sagrado had established since Ricardo Cadena took over the team.

The most expensive signings in the history of Club America

With Cadena on the dugout as an interim coach after Chivas decided to part ways with Marcelo Michel Leaño given the poor results that he had during his stint, El Rebaño won five straight games that not only gave them the ticket to Repechaje but also their return to Liguilla.

Chivas hadn’t been able to reach Liguilla for over a year, as Apertura 2020 was the last time that they made it, with Victor Manuel Vucetich as their coach, reaching semifinals before being eliminated. In Clausura 2021, Pachuca beat them in Repechaje and in Apertura 2021 Club Puebla eliminated them in the same stage.

Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez are aware that one of the things that Chivas missed this season was a striker that could score consistently, as Ángel Zaldívar disappeared after Michel Leaño was sacked, and José Juan Macías missed half of the season due to injuries.

Peláez has been pursuing the addition of for a while Henry Martín

One of the players that Peláez is considering having at Chivas for Apertura 2022 is Club América forward Henry Martín, a player that he likes since he played for Xolos de Tijuana, although Las Águilas won the race to sign him.

But now that Martín is going through a rough patch in his career, he only scored three goals in the regular season and one in the playoffs so far, and that América are considering selling him once the summer transfer window starts, Peláez knows its his chance of acquiring him at last.

Reports from W Deportes Radio inform that Club América is willing to part ways with Martín as he’s approaching the end of his contract, and given that Peláez said during an interview for Marca Claro that he’s interested in Martín, they could start negotiating soon.

Chivas’s offer for Martín

According to Transfermarkt, Martín’s market value is set at $3.6 million, but reports from Milenio informed that Las Águilas are willing to accept a starting offer for $3 million and negotiate from there, a sum that Chivas could pay and lower given that América wants to part ways with the Mexico international.
