It took 13 games of Clausura 2022 for Amaury Vergara and Chivas to finally understand that Marcelo Michel Leaño was only hurting their chances of reaching Repechaje, as each game that passed, El Rebaño Sagrado was moving further away from the middle of the table.
Matías Almeyda wants to return to Chivas, but he’s requesting to acquire a top striker
The 3-1 defeat against Monterrey, who are being coached by Victor Manuel Vucetich, the same coach that Michel Leaño managed to fire from Chivas to replace him, was the last straw that broke the camel’s back and meant the end of Michel Leaño’s stint.
The Mexican coach was in front of Chivas for 22 games, from which he only won only five of them. El Rebaño Sagrado also tied 9 games during his stint, as well as losing the remainder eight for a total of 24 points out of the 66 points that he disputed.
Now, Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez have named Ricardo Cadena as the interim coach while they look for a coach that could replace Michel Leaño and help Chivas to leave their bad streak behind, as they only won one of the last five games that they played.
It’s true that Matías Almeyda is the favorite to arrive in Chivas’ dugout, not only because he could do it for free but also because he’s a fan favorite and the last coach that gave El Rebaño a Liga MX title, the last one that Chivas won, back in 2017.
But Amaury Vergara knows that they have to look for different options, especially if that option is called Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who will become a free agent at the end of the season as he doesn’t plan to renew with FC Juárez.
“Tuca” is looking for a different challenge in his career and arriving at Chivas is something he’s willing to do according to an interview he had with Cancha, although he has one request to accept becoming the new coach of El Rebaño Sagrado.
Just like he did when he was coaching Tigres, “Tuca” Ferretti wants to have someone ha can trust as the sporting director of Chivas, as he knows it’s essential to start building a team from there. If Amaury Vergara accepts, Ricardo Peláez will leave El Rebaño at the end of the season.
