After the outstanding comeback that Chivas had in the last part of Clausura 2022, El Rebaño Sagrado had their hopes of winning a new Liga MX title revived, but they couldn’t made it past the quarterfinals, where they lost against Atlas FC.
Amaury Vergara already decided who is going to be the next coach of Chivas
Ricardo Cadena was the artificer of the good results that helped Chivas earn 12 points in the last four games of the regular season to ensure their presence in Repechaje, where they crushed Pumas and earned their ticket to Liguilla.
But he also showed his inexperience in Mexico’s top flight, as he couldn’t outplay Atlas FC and Diego Cocca’s strategy, as the Rojinegros have proved to be one of the most solid teams in Liga MX in the last year, something that Cadena didn’t know how to break.
That’s why Ricardo Peláez has been looking for a new coach, as reports from ESPN inform that he already interviewed five different candidates, to get to know their project and how it aligns with Chivas’s aspirations for the future.
Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti is among the candidates that Peláez is considering arriving at Chivas, as he’s no stranger to coaching Chivas and making them champions, something he managed to do back in 1997, when he won his first Liga MX title.
And after parting ways from FC Juárez given the failed experiment that Bravos has become, Ferretti is looking to continue his career elsewhere, on a team where he can establish a solid long-term project to win Liga MX once again.
Chivas gives him that opportunity, especially with the academy teams that they have and given their history together, but before Ferretti ends up arriving at Chivas, he’s established a few conditions that Ricardo Peláez is still pondering about.
The first thing that he requested is a two-year contract with a high release clause, something that will give him the stability needed to build a project from the ground. The second thing is the addition of at least three top players to improve the current roster, and the last one is a salary worthy of his resumé, at least similar to the one he had in Bravos, where he earned $2 million per season.
Chivas are looking to part ways with Ángel Zaldívar and they already have his replacement
