The player sent off for the Auriazules was Juan Dinneno, who committed a foul on Maximiliano Meza, for which the referee had to resort to the VAR, which led to the player's dismissal.

But despite being a man down and having a less expensive team than Monterrey, Pumas UNAM managed to put on a great performance and take all three points in Matchday 14.

Juan Dinneno's sending-off

It was 45+3 minutes into the first half when Dinneno tried to get close to the opponent's area, and Maxi Meza saw him and ran to try to take the ball away from him.

At first glance it seemed that the legs of both players collided, so the referee issued a yellow card, but then went to review the play to the VAR, to determine if the action deserved another type of sanction.

Upon returning from reviewing the play, the referee did not hesitate for a second and sent Dinneno off for ironing Meza's shin, which meant that Pumas UNAM had to play the entire match with a man down.

Because of this situation, many thought that the Universitarios were going to lose the match, but this would not be decided until the second half of the game.

Washington Corozo's brace

It seemed that the match would end 0-0, which would help the Universitarios to get 1 point, which would put them in a better position to face the re-qualification and thus, earn the opportunity to go to the Liguilla.

The situation was not going to be as good for Rayados, however, as they needed to get as far away from Atlas as possible to ensure their direct passage to the Liguilla.

However, Washington Corozo had other plans, so, already out of regular time in the second half of the match, the midfielder received a long pass which he managed to capture and headed the ball to Esteban Andrada's goal.

Corozo faced the goalkeeper and took a precise left-footed shot that Andrada could not block, and thus the Ecuadorian put the 1-0 on the scoreboard.

And it would not be long before the second goal was scored, also by "Manchita" Corozo, which also occurred out of regular time, when the match was about to end.

Taking advantage of a rebound in the Pumas area, Corozo took the ball and ran the length of the field like a train until he reached the opponent's area, and despite being chased by a Monterrey player, Corozo scored effectively to make it 2-0 and give Pumas UNAM the victory.
