Dates and times for 2022 CONCACAF Champions League final revealed

After a long wait, the dates and times for the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League final, which will pit Pumas UNAM against Seattle Sounders, have finally been revealed.

Both clubs were the only survivors of the confederation's top club tournament and after defeating their respective rivals, it is now their turn to fight for the final.

These are the dates and times for the final of the CONCACAF Champions League 2022

The first leg will be played on Wednesday, April 27 at the Olímpico Universitario at 22:30 ET, while the second leg will be played on May 4 at Lumen Field at 21:00 ET.

The final will be played in two matches, one first leg and one-second leg, after which the club that will represent Concacaf in the FIFA Club World Cup will be announced. 

This is the first time in 17 years that the Universitarios have reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League, since the last time they did so was in 2005 when they lost to Saprissa of Costa Rica with a 3-2 aggregate score.

That was the only time a Mexican team has lost the final of the tournament to a non-Mexican team, so the Auriazules need to close that wound that still remains open. 

What they did achieve in this edition of the tournament, however, was "revenge" against Saprissa, the team that defeated them in 2005 final, beating them 6-3 on aggregate, with an impressive closing match at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.

The Universitarios have already been CONCACAF champions on three occasions: once in 1980, the second in 1982, and the most recent in 1989, but their last Final was in 2005 when they lost to Saprissa of Costa Rica with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Seattle Sounders also set for CONCACAF Champions League final

The Sounders have not had the best start to the MLS 2022 tournament, as tChicharito scores in LA Galaxy loss to Seattle Soundershey have 2 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses, although they are coming off two consecutive wins.

One against Minnesota in Major League Soccer, and the other against MLS Cup champion New York City FC, whom they eliminated to reach the final of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The Sounders are ready for their encounter with history, and with the likes of Albert Rusnák and Jordan Morris, and with Brian Schmetzer as head coach, the team will put up a tough fight against Pumas UNAM.
