After breaking the 24-year streak without a Liga MX championship a year ago, it seemed that things for Cruz Azul finally were turning around and an age of blossom was coming their way, but with Álvaro Dávila’s dismissal and the return of Jaime Ordiales, things turned south quick for La Máquina.

Santiago Giménez sent a message to Gerardo Martino and Mexico National Team

The relationship between Juan Reynoso and Ordiales has never been good, as the latter didn’t want to have Reynoso as La Máquina coach when he first arrived as he thought he wasn’t what Cruz Azul needed, although Reynoso proved him wrong just six months later.

It’s yet to be seen if Reynoso continues as Cruz Azul coach once Clausura 2022 is over, given the tense relationship between him and Cruz Azul’s management. But for now, both him and most of the roster are focused on their performances on the pitch, although there’s two players that are considering leaving La Máquina.

Which players want to leave Cruz Azul?

Reports suggest that José de Jesús Corona isn’t happy with Cruz Azul’s decision of parting ways with his son Misael Corona, who now plays in Aguacateros Club Deportivo Uruapan, in Mexico’s third flight, given that he didn’t have enough minutes with Cruz Azul.

Although part of the blame is on him, as he’s still playing at 41 and at a high level. But when he decides to retire, Cruz Azul already have his replacement, and it wasn’t Misael. Sebastián Jurado, who joined Cruz Azul in 2019 after a breakout season with Veracruz, is patiently waiting for his chance to shine with La Máquina.

On the other hand, Santiago Giménez has slowly lost his starting role with Cruz Azul as he hadn’t score for five months before last weekend’s game against Toluca, where he scored his first brace in Liga MX. If Reynoso doesn’t give him more playing time, he’d consider leaving La Máquina when the season ends.

What’s their current market value?

The 20-year-old striker is just starting his career, which is why his market value is set at $4.5 million and will increase in the future, especially if he keeps playing like he did against Toluca. For “Chuy” Corona, who is on his last years as a professional soccer player, his market value is set at $900,000.
