Liga MX is still on pause due to the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers, but the name of Marcelo Michel Leaño's possible replacement at Chivas is already known.

The coach who would replace him at the helm of the Rebaño Sagrado would be a real surprise for Liga MX, as he has been seen in action with the national team he currently leads.

Who would be the possible replacement for Marcelo Michel Leaño at Chivas?

It is Thomas Christiansen, the current head coach of Panama's national team, who today sparked a veritable avalanche of rumors that he would be the next Chivas coach.

According to the Panamanian press, there is even talk of an agreement between the Spanish-Danish coach and the Liga MX team, which would make his arrival at the Rebaño Sagrado possible, although neither the coach nor the club has spoken on the subject so far.

What is certain is that the Panamanian press has assured that the Panama coach, having failed to secure the team's passage to Qatar 2022, would leave the squad, which could lead him to take over the Verde Valle team next summer.

The only obstacle that the aforementioned coach would apparently have is that everything indicates that the Chivas board has decided to trust Michel Leaño for a long-term project, despite the fact that the club is currently having a lousy Clausura 2022 tournament.

Who is Thomas Christiansen?

At 49 years of age, Thomas Christiansen is a soccer coach who currently serves as head coach of the Panama National Soccer Team, a team that has been virtually eliminated from the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.

His beginnings in soccer were as a player and in that stage, he played for several clubs such as Real Sporting de Gijón, C. A. Osasuna, Racing de Santander, Real Oviedo, Villarreal, and Terrassa in Spain.

He also played for Panionios NFC in Greece, Herfølge Boldklub in Denmark, and VfL Bochum and Hannover 96, the latter two in Germany.

He later coached AEK Larnaca and APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus, Leeds United in England, and Union Saint-Gilloise, before joining the Panama national team.

Can Thomas Christiansen really make it to Chivas?

It is not yet a certainty but the possibilities are on the table since the coach's contract with Panama ends in June of this year, so the coach can already choose a new club.

And to tell the truth, Christiansen did a good job in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, winning 13, drawing seven, and losing nine of 29 games.

Therefore, his numbers at the helm of Panama are much better than those of Michel Leaño, who at the helm of Chivas has 3 wins, 4 draws, and 4 defeats in the current Liga MX 2022.
