Monterrey will begin their journey in the second round of FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday against Egyptian side Al-Ahly Sporting Club, club that currently holds the record for most participations in the Club World Cup.

César Montes won’t be available for Rayados debut in FIFA World Cup

Although Rayados won’t be able to have César Montes for the game set to be played in Al-Nahyan Stadium, in United Arab Emirates, they have the advantage, as the Egyptian club won’t have 13 players, for different reasons, which will allow Monterrey to reach semifinals without much trouble.

Currently Al-Ahly has 13 players unavailable for the match against the CONCACAF Champion, as some of them are injured, other group hasn’t joined the Egyptian camp as they tested positive for Covid-19, and the remainder group will be playing the final of Africa Cup of Nations against Cameroon National Team.

Not the only good news for Rayados

As if things couldn’t look better for Javier Aguirre and his squad, if they manage to beat a weakened Al-Ahly, they won’t have to face Chelsea until the final, a goal that seems achievable as Palmeiras -who are waiting for the winner of Rayados match-, have informed that they are having a covid outbreak in their camp.

Currently, the Brazilian team has reported 4 positive cases, but they’re worried because the symptoms the players presented were showed after they arrived in United Arab Emirates, meaning the virus could spread in the next few hours within their camp.
