Who is Marcelo Michel Leaño?

Marcelo Michel Leaño, 35 years old, is a Mexican coach and technical director, who until this morning was the head coach of Chivas, but was fired from the club.

The coach was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on February 14, 1987, and began his career in soccer in the administrative field as he started as Director of Sports Business at the Estudiantes Tecos Soccer Club from 2003 to 2011.

In this institution he lived closely with coaches such as César Luis Menotti, Miguel "Piojo" Herrera, Jaime Ordiales, Daniel Guzmán, Eduardo Acevedo, among others.

He would later become Sporting Director at Chivas, to later play the same role at CF Mérida, the club where he would debut as head coach for the 2016 Clausura Tournament.

He would compete in the Copa MX Clausura 2016, Apertura 2016 and Copa MX Apertura 2016 R4 and R1 respectively, with a total of 26 games coached, 10 won, 5 tied, 11 lost.

Later he would also be the head coach of Coras Tepic FC, a club of the Liga de Ascenso MX, a revelation team of the season with important victories against first division teams such as Club America and Club Santos Laguna.

In 2017-2018, he would become coach of Club Atlético Zacatepec in the same division, wherein two seasons he managed to be third place overall, and from there he became coach of the Chivas academy.

It was there that the board of directors chose him to replace Victor Manuel Vucetich when he was dismissed from the club due to poor results. Despite Leaño's failure to qualify Chivas for the Liguilla, Ricardo Peláez and Amaury Vergara decided to give him continuity.

How much did Marcelo Michel Leaño, the Chivas manager who was just fired, earn?

Marcelo Michel Leaño earned 740 thousand dollars per season at Club Deportivo Guadalajara, according to the Mexican press, where it is also reported that Victor Manuel Vucetich, the club's previous coach, earned 1 million, 800 thousand dollars per season.

The mention of "Vuce" comes to mind because it was precisely this coach who defeated him with Rayados de Monterrey in a pending Round 12 match, which was played last night.

The defeat was by a score of 1-3 and the goals for La Pandilla were scored by Jesús Gallardo, Sebastián Vegas and Alfonso Gonzáles

Ángel Zaldívar scored for Chivas, but his goal was not enough to avoid defeat for the Rebaño Sagrado, who today fired Marcelo Michel Leaño.
