Even if Chivas were able to make it into Repechaje and even manage to earn the home advantage as they finished the regular season of Clausura 2022 standing sixth in the Liga MX table, Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez are already planning what will be the 2022-23 season.

They know that if they want to become a protagonist team in Liga MX once again, they are going to need to start by signing one of the best coaches in the world, like Marcelo Bielsa, who is still available and is willing to return to Mexico.

Bielsa coached in Liga MX during the 90s, when he first arrived at Atlas and then he coached Club América, teams that he helped to boost their academy teams and that became the foundation of the Mexican national team in the following years.

Chivas know that having a coach like him will improve the performances of the first team, as well as the level of the academy teams, as Bielsa is always involved in the formation of new players, but in order for that to happen, they will have to part ways with several players that Bielsa knows won’t help to have a healthy locker room.

His first decision will be to do a locker room cleanout.

Ricardo Peláez already sent Marcelo Bielsa an offer to become Chivas’s next coach according to reports from Diario Récord, and Chivas are just waiting for his answer to give him the coaching role and the abilities to build the roster as he pleases.

One of the first decisions that he’ll take as Chivas’s coach will be to part ways with the players that are troublemakers, as he knows that having a healthy locker room is essential if they want to become a team and transcend in the league.

That’s why players like César Huerta and Antonio Briseño won’t be part of El Rebaño’s roster for next season even if they’re still under contract, as well as Raúl Gudiño, who will finish his contract with Chivas over the summer and doesn’t plan of renewing.

The list will grow in the next few weeks

But the strict discipline regime that Bielsa is known for establishing on the teams he coaches could also put an end to the career in Chivas of at least three other players that haven’t contributed recently, and their level is below what expected, like Ángel Zaldívar, Cristian “Chicote” Calderón and Hiram Mier.
