Once again Marcelo Bielsa has been linked to a Liga MX team. Although the Grita México Clausura 2022 tournament is still underway, one of the big four is already planning its next tournament. In that sense, the board of directors of Chivas de Guadalajara have contacted ‘El Loco’ to offer him the position left by Marcelo Michel Leaño, since the Argentinean coach ended his working relationship with Leeds United of the Premier League.

The renowned Argentine journalist, César Luis Merlo, a specialist in the transfer market in the American continent, confirmed what initially emerged as a rumor:

In addition to the sporting performance, before starting to negotiate a possible incorporation, Bielsa will also analyze the system, the players that make up the squad, the demands, the particular conditions of the team, and the culture of the city.

The possibilities are real

The possibility of bringing the renowned Argentinean tactician back to Mexico, after his spell at the British club Leeds United, is completely true and he could end up on the bench of the eternal rivals of the teams he coached in Mexico, since he was in charge of Atlas from 1992 to 1994 and then coached América between 1995 and 1996. From his native country, the renowned journalist and specialist in the transfer market verified all the information.

It is not the first time that Bielsa has been sought after

This is not the first time that the team from Guadalajara has tried to acquire Bielsa's services. In 2011, when Jorge Vergara was still making decisions on the team, he met with El Loco in a hotel in Mexico City, according to David Medrano. At the meeting, the strategist was on the verge of accepting the coaching position but imposed a condition that was not well regarded by the former owner.

Rafa (Ortega) told me that things were going well, but Bielsa said: 'I'm just going to ask you an important favor to be able to implement everything we've talked about. I only want to see you twice, the day we sign the contract and the day I am fired," recalled the Azteca Deportes journalist.
