Even if Liguilla is just about to start and half of the teams from Liga MX still have options to become the next Liga MX champion, the clubs are already planning what will be the 2022-23 season, especially the ones that know will need to improve their rosters.

Chivas is one of those teams, as they know that several players will be leaving once Clausura 2022 is over, either because their contracts expire or because they haven’t contributed to El Rebaño as their performances have been below from what was expected.

Some of the decisions will have to wait until Amaury Vergara and Ricardo Peláez decide who is going to be Chivas’s new coach, as for now Ricardo Cadena is on the dugout, but reports suggest that they are still looking for another coach and Marcelo Bielsa is the top option.

But they can also start planning other movements, especially to fill the spots that will be open once the current season is over, like the goalkeeper position, given that Raúl Gudiño already decided to leave El Rebaño Sagrado as soon as his contract expires.

Chivas’s next goalkeeper will arrive from Club América

That’s why they already are looking for potential replacements, and even if they have Miguel “Wacho” Jiménez, who has proved to have the talent to play for Chivas and has become the starting goalkeeper in Clausura 2022.

The top candidate to arrive at Chivas to compete against “Wacho” Jiménez is Club América’s second goalkeeper, Óscar Jiménez, player that Ricardo Peláez knows from his stint in Las Águilas and that will become a free agent in December.

Las Águilas are in a tight spot regarding the continuity of their goalkeepers, as both Guillermo Ochoa and Jiménez are set to become free agents at the end of Apertura 2022, and they only can renew one of them, being Ochoa the priority.

How much will Chivas have to pay for him?

El Rebaño Sagrado has two options, the first one is negotiating directly with him to add him as a free agent once his contract with Club América expires, although they will have to wait six more months for that. The second option is to pay the $525,000 that his market value is, an affordable sum for Chivas.
