The date of the Tigres vs Santos Liga MX 2022 match, which was postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19, was revealed. The match was rescheduled due to the high number of infections in the Felinos club.

The pandemic continues to affect the entire world and Mexican soccer is no exception.

It was first thought that the match could be played on the date it was originally scheduled, which was Saturday, January 8 at 20:00 ET.

It was believed that the match could be played later on the same date, but due to increased contagions at Tigres, the Mexican League 2022 decided to modify the date of the match as well.

When will the Tigres vs Santos match be played?

According to what was communicated by the Mexican League 2022 and the Tigres team on their social networks, the match against Santos Laguna will take place next Wednesday, January 12 at the TSM Stadium, and the schedule is yet to be defined.

It seems that, as had been anticipated a few days ago, the authorities decided to postpone the game and even change the date, to avoid further increases in the number of COVID-19 infections.

The news, which until yesterday was a rumor, was confirmed today by Tigres UANL through a statement on their social networks in which they also talked about the number of contagions in their team

How many people are infected in Tigres?

The news is not at all encouraging for the Felinos. According to the press release, there are 12 infected members of the Tigres first team, which reflects the seriousness of the problem.

The press release reports:

"The results showed 12 positive results in the Men's squad in first-team players, so all these cases have already been isolated to begin their recovery process."

The statement also clarifies what has happened to the players who were already infected with the virus:

"In addition, we inform that one of the players who was isolated has already returned to training today after having kept the corresponding isolation".

The team led by Miguel Herrera never took the health of its players lightly and decided to carry out antigen and PCR tests on the men's team, as well as on the staff and coaching staff on January 4 and 5.

As a result of these tests, both Tigres and Santos agreed that it was best to postpone the match until the situation improved

Tigres women's team also faces COVID-19 outbreak

In the same statement, the team made it known that the COVID-19 contagion situation has also reached the Amazonas

The institution registered five positive cases of the virus, so in addition to isolating the players, they invited the club's supporters not to lower their guard against the virus.

Pumas UNAM vs Toluca also suffered a change of date due to COVID-19

At the time of going to press, it was confirmed that the Pumas UNAM vs Toluca match had also been rescheduled due to the outbreak of the virus in the Red Devils' team

It appears that the virus continues to hinder the start of the 2022 Mexican League

Until before the Tigres case, the only known infections were the two at Chivas, but just in the first days of January, it was confirmed that the number of infections was 93 in the league.
