The Cañoneros were unlucky enough to be the team that "helped" Gignac reach this milestone, making him one of the most lethal strikers in the tournament.

It was at the 73rd minute of regular playing time when the referee sentenced a tight play in the area when there was an illegal charge on Carlos Gonzáles that had to be reviewed with the VAR.

After the review, the referee ruled the penalty kick, and to take it, Gignac was the obvious candidate, so the player prepared himself and took the shot without a second's hesitation.

The ball went into the goal and the second goal was scored, giving Tigres the victory at the end of the match with a score of 4-3 over Mazatlán FC.

But apart from the victory, Gignac managed to score his 100th goal in Liga MX, showing that, despite his 36 years of age, he proved to Liga Mexicana in 2022 that he is nowhere near retirement.

The tournament is only on its fourth Round, but for the Frenchman, this is of no importance because his hunger for goals is insatiable and his desire to contribute to the team drives him.

In the Clausura 2022, the French striker has played 4 games, all 4 as a starter, and has scored 2 goals, not bad for a player who has just recovered from COVID-19.

Gignac scored his first goal in Liga MX 2022 against Chivas, at the Estadio Universitario on August 9, 2015, that first tournament he scored eleven goals.

Gignac also reached 155 goals with Tigres in all competitions, which allowed him to surpass Salvador Reyes as the 8th player with the most goals for a Mexican First Division club, leaving behind the 154 of “Chava” in 14 years with Chivas.

On the other hand, André's first goal at the "Volcán" was in the second leg of the 2015 Copa Libertadores Semifinal against Internacional de Porto Alegre.

So far the "worst" year for the Frenchman in Liga MX was in 2021. In the Clausura 2021, the player scored only 3 goals and all of them were set pieces.
