Pumas UNAM were fearful and ineffective, and despite the fact that the youth team faced Tigres' wallet, they were unable to hold on for the victory and in the end, they came from behind 1-2 with a last-minute penalty, with Nahuel Guzmán as their star player and rescuer.

As the script demanded, Miguel Herrera's men were superior from the opening whistle, but the team's poor form did not allow them to be effective in front of Alfredo Talavera's goal, who suffered the attacks of the visitors.

However, the Cantera Felina (feline youth team) stood up to the challenge led by Andrés Lillini, and the Auriazul tactician worked his magic and surprised the visiting backline with a different approach, due to the absences he had to deal with.

Pumas struck first

Jerónimo Rodríguez opened the score. The Puma youth player scored his first goal in Liga MX after leaving three Tigres defenders behind him by speed, following a first-class pass from Favio Álvarez. The 'Patón' was helpless to save and 'Jero' scored the first goal for the home team.

Tigres, meanwhile, did not understand what was going on and showed a lack of concentration, as if the sun at Ciudad Universitaria had made them dizzy, and then Pumas took advantage of the mood in their favor. Jerónimo Rodríguez had a chance to make it 2-0, but Nahuel saved low. Rogerio also shot from distance and the 'Patón' once again made another save.

In the second half, Pumas fell back. They put up with a squad that is very powerful in terms of payroll and ended up paying for it. Although 'Piojo' Herrera suffered on the bench due to the way the game was played, individuality, luck, and his team's insistence gave him a victory.

Nico López broke the Pumas' barrier

First, it was Nicolás 'Diente' López who tied the game after being left with a rebound in the penalty area. The Uruguayan celebrated with restraint while the Pumas could not believe what had happened to them.

With the score tied, Lillini made changes, but not even his best man, Juan Dinenno, was able to help preserve parity, as the Argentine striker showed little and was ineffective in the Pumas attack.

As if that wasn't enough drama, a penalty kick in stoppage time gave Tigres the lead. André-Pierre Gignac scored the winning goal and sealed the three points. The penalty was not without controversy, but after reviewing the VAR, the referee confirmed his decision.

In the end, Pumas paid dearly for their sins. Between their ineffectiveness and backtracking, they allowed themselves to come from behind against Tigres, who showed more grit than good soccer.
