This Wednesday it was decided that Santiago Solari is out of América after a meeting of the top management with the coach, who on Tuesday night "signed his sentence" when Querétaro tied the game at the last second to make it more than four months without a win at the Azteca Stadium.

Santiago Solari will be out of Club América if they lose against Querétaro

‘El Indiecito’ seemed to have left a hint of his future in the press conference after the game with Gallos Blancos, when he assured that he was "only an employee" and that his continuity "depended on the decision-makers", all this after an almost hour-long talk with Santiago Baños, sporting director, in the dressing rooms of the Coloso de Santa Úrsula.

The lack of communion between Solari and the fans was evident in the Liguilla of the Apertura 2021 after the humiliating elimination against Pumas, highlighted by the fact that the Azulcremas had been leaders and the Pedregal team had entered the playoffs as the worst qualified team.

"Club América informs that the coaching staff concludes its cycle in the men's first team. This decision is effective as of today. Club América is grateful for the professionalism and seriousness of Santiago Solari, Santiago Sánchez, Lucas Nardi, and Bruno Militano during a little more than a year of work with our team," the Azulcrema club published on its social networks.

The main reasons for Santiago Solari's dismissal

Solari didn't know how to play the playoffs

The Argentinean coach finished two complete tournaments in Liga MX. The Clausura 2021 and the Apertura 2021. In his first tournament, the Águilas had a good tournament but were eliminated by Pachuca in the quarter-finals, while in the last tournament, they were the regular season leaders but lost again in the quarter-finals against Pumas, who had come in last place in the playoffs.

Bad relationship with the fans

After losing in both of the ‘liguillas’ in which they participated, the fans lost patience with the Argentine coach and the bad results began. In addition, the Azulcremas fans did not like the way the former Real Madrid coach defended himself in press conferences.

Poor results in the Clausura 2022

For the current tournament, Solari won only once in seven games, lost four times, and drew twice. This situation led to his dismissal.

While the Águilas find their new coach for the Clausura 2022, the players are expected to be working with Gilberto Adame, the club's interim coach, and Diego Ramírez, the club's director of sports development, who will serve as interim coaches for the first team.
