According to André Marín, one of the most renowned Mexican sports journalists, the governor of Veracruz, Cuitláhuac García, said during an interview that the government already started conversations with a group of investors to give a new soccer club to the people from the port.

García will prove the stadium if the investors manage to buy a franchise from Liga MX and reestablish the team that was unaffiliated in 2019 after the bad management Fidel Kuri had during his stint as owner of the club.

Which Liga MX will disappear to open a spot for Veracruz?

If the revival of Veracruz becomes a reality, the team most likely to give their spot to the new team will be Santos Laguna, as they’ve been forgotten by Grupo Orlegi for the past few seasons, as Alejandro Irraragori is focused on helping Atlas rather than boosting Los Guerreros.
