Carlos Acevedo keeps impressing everyone with his outstanding performances, as he has become one of Santos Laguna’s best players in the season, especially on the last two games, where Los Guerreros have been able to earn consecutive victories.

They said they were the base of Mexico National Team, but Club América will provide 2 players

With only 25 years, Acevedo is called to be the next goalkeeper of Mexico National Team once Ochoa decides to finish his tenure, but for now, Gerardo “Tata” Martino keeps refusing to call him, as he values other goalkeepers over him.

But given the situation in which Club América currently are, as not only the coach wasn’t working -which is why Santiago Solari is no longer on Las Águilas dugout-, but also the message that some players send with their performances is to be worried, they could be playing their last season in El Nido.

That’s the case of Guillermo Ochoa, who already became the goalkeeper with most goals received in Club América’s history, with 506, and also broke another record, as he’s received 26 consecutive goals via penalty kick in Liga MX, as he hasn’t been able to stop any of them.

Can Acevedo arrive in América?

Guillermo Ochoa has less than a year on his contract, and given his disappointing performances in the current season, as the leader of a defense that usually mistakes, Club América could be considering not renewing his contract, as they need a reliable goalkeeper, something that Ochoa hasn’t been.

In Santos Laguna, they know that Acevedo’s days wearing the Guerreros colors are numbered, even if he’s under contract until 2025, as his current performances are gathering interest from different teams, as he already was linked with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen during the winter transfer window.

They know that if Acevedo doesn’t leave to a European team, then his future will be in one of Liga MX biggest clubs, which is why his arrival in Club América is more than possible, although his transfer will be discussed with him, as the decision of the player comes before of the club’s interests.

Acevedo knows that if he wants to be considered by Gerardo Martino to be part of the roster that plays in Qatar 2022, he needs to leave Santos Laguna, which will make him consider his arrival in Club América to replace Guillermo Ochoa.
