It’s clear that since Amaury Vergara took over Chivas ownership in 2019, El Rebaño Sagrado has stepped away from the spotlight that were used to when Jorge Vergara was in charge of the club, especially during the final years, when Matías Almeyda make them CONCACAF Champions in 2018.

Since then, Chivas hasn’t been able to even reach a new Liga MX final, and after Vergara imposed Marcelo Michel Leaño as Chivas coach, the team has forgotten about fighting for the top spots on Liga MX standings as they’ve won only 4 out of the 13 games he’s coached.

Although Amaury Vergara has said previously that he’s not considering selling the team, if he were to, Red Bull group would be the first in the line to acquire them, as they’ve been looking to expand their soccer empire into Liga MX for over a year now.

How much does the Chivas brand is worth?

According to Forbes, Chivas is the most expensive team in Liga MX, as it’s worth $311.5 million, just $500,000 more than Monterrey. But back when Jorge Vergara was still the owner, he valued Chivas in over $800 million, given that it’s one of the most profitable brands in Mexico.
