Chivas informed that Jesús Molina's surgery was a success. Guadalajara confirmed the diagnosis that was made before the surgery, as it was a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee, in addition to the fact that the player will have a recovery period of seven to nine months, which will begin tomorrow.

"Molina's surgery was a success; the preoperative diagnosis was confirmed, a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee and additionally a repair of a part of the lateral meniscus and also of a superficial chondral lesion of the medial condyle was performed," informed the club through a press release.

"The player is recovering, he will return home and tomorrow he will begin his rehabilitation, which will be with early mobilization; we will try to get him off the crutches as soon as possible so that he can have a faster and more favorable evolution. The prognosis for his return to competition is 7 to 9 months".

The friendly against Atlanta United was costly

Just last Monday, Chivas informed about Molina's injury, which he suffered last Sunday at the Verde Valle stadium during a friendly match against Atlanta United of the MLS.

Molina, who was Guadalajara's captain, had only played five minutes in the five games played in the Clausura 2022, after Marcelo Michel Leaño, Rebaño's coach, only used him to close the match against Juárez in the fourth game, which the team won 3-1.

Despite a 3-1 win over Atlanta United at Verde Valle with goals from Ronaldo Cisneros, Hiram Mier, and Sebastián "Chevy" Martínez, the result was costly due to the midfielder's injury.

The friendly was scheduled because MLS teams are conducting their preseason and Atlanta United, led by Gonzalo Pineda, agreed to play against Chivas.

Molina's teammates sent messages of support to the player

All the members of the rojiblanco team sent a message of encouragement to their captain, who will miss the remainder of the tournament and much more.

"Players, board, and staff send all the good vibes to our captain so that he can face this challenge in the best possible way, reminding him that we are 40 million Chivahermanos who accompany him in his process," said Chivas.

Chivas are currently in eighth place with seven points, after wins against Mazatlán and Juárez, a draw with Querétaro, as well as losses against Pachuca and Tigres.

The team from Guadalajara will play their match of the sixth round against León next Saturday at 9:00 pm at the Nou Camp.
