On recent years, Club América has been known for the young promises they develop in their Academy teams. First, they debuted Diego Lainez, who was only 16 at the time, and then Sebastián Córdova, who recently was transferred to Tigres UANL after a dispute he had with Santiago Solari.

Both players left El Nido on different circumstances, but it’s widely known that Diego Laínez, who was called to be Mexico’s next top striker, is having a hard time with Real Betis, his current team, as injuries and coach decisions have diminished his rising career.

But now, América already has another jewel waiting to debut with the first team: Iker Moreno. Although he’s only 18, he already has been part of multiple Liga MX, such as Querétaro and Atlético San Luis, but he recently signed with Club América, where he became a regular in the U-18 squad.

Who is Iker Moreno?

After he was discovered by Luis Figo on his platform “Dream Football”, the ex-soccer Portuguese player called him The Mexican Messi and wished him luck on his signing with Club América. Solari has yet to give him a chance with the senior squad, but he definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
