He was set to join La Liga’s Leganés but now he’s shinning with Pumas

No one could have asked for a better debut in Clausura 2022 like the one Pumas had yesterday against Toluca on the pitch of Estadio Universitario. Not only did they managed to score on five occasions and leave their goal untouched, but they also functioned as a team that didn’t show any weaknesses.

But not only that, Pumas also had the chance to debut a young promising player who scored after only 47 seconds on the pitch. When the game was 3-0, Andrés Lillini, who is known of giving young players a chance to prove themselves, decided to give Jorge Ruvalcaba an opportunity in a game that was already decided.

He entered the pitch substituting José Rogério, who scored a ‘golazo’ after a bicycle kick, at 67’. Not a minute had passed since he entered the game when he had his first chance to score, and he didn’t disappoint. He faced Toluca’s goalkeeper all by himself and crossed his shot, leaving Gutiérrez without a chance to stop the ball.

Who is Jorge Ruvalcaba?

He was born in California from Mexican parents and started playing soccer from a young age. In 2019, he had a tryout with La Liga side Leganés, but he decided to join Pumas and move to Mexico. Last season he played for the U-20 squad, where Lillini checked him out.
