Since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz became Las Águilas coach on the round 9 of Clausura 2022, Club América has a record of two victories, one draw, and one loss, which added to the six points that the Azulcremas earned with Santiago Solari, has helped them to leave the bottom of the table.

This is what Fernando Ortíz earns to help Club América leave the crisis that Santiago Solari left behind

Ortíz has been able to get Las Águilas on the mix for one of the last spots of Repechaje, something that they will manage to do if they earn at least six more points of the 15 that are still on dispute, and with their current performances, it seems achievable.

But even if they seem to be leaving behind the crisis, Club América knows that they have to change things for the next season if they want to keep the momentum going and return to the top places of Liga MX for Apertura 2022.

That’s why they are looking to strengthen the roster and asked Atlas about Camilo Vargas, who decided to renew him before negotiations started, as he will leave more money if he ends up leaving. But once Guillermo Ochoa heard about it, he took a decision regarding his future in América.

Will Ochoa leave Las Águilas?

Guillermo Ochoa’s contract will expire at the end of the year, and even if he’s said in the past that his dream is to retire with Las Águilas, he hasn’t signed a contract extension, which will open the door for him to start negotiating with another club over the summer.

For now, the things that’s holding him to renew with Las Águilas is the contract that they’re offering him, as Club América have a strict policy of only giving a 1-year contract to players that are over 30 years, as they could significantly drop their performance from one year to another.

But according to sports journalist Jonatan Peña, Ochoa is not willing to accept those conditions, as he’s requesting a 2-year contract with the option to extend it a third year, which is what has stuck the negotiations.

Will Emilio Azcárraga accept his conditions?

Emilio Azcárraga knows that Guillermo Ochoa is a magnet for sponsorships and extra income for the club and given that he already gathered some interest from MLS clubs, he will soon have to take a decision regarding his future with Las Águilas.
