This is how Gonzalo Sosa, the Argentinean striker of the Cañoneros, scored twice to give Mazatlán the win over Atlas, which was the biggest surprise of the Liga MX 2022 so far.

More news about Atlas:

Julio Furch wants to play with the Mexican National Team, but how are his paperwork going?

The player put his team on his shoulder and managed to give his club the victory, despite not having the possibility of reaching the Liguilla, not even through reclassification.

This is because Mazatlán currently occupies 17th place out of the 18 clubs competing in the tournament, and their chances of reaching the Playoffs are almost nil, which is why his performance and commitment in the match are so surprising.

This was Gonzalo Sosa's brace

The match started unexpectedly, with Mazatlán looking for an opportunity to score through Marco Fabián, who headed a shot in the Atlas area in the 6th minute, but his shot went wide.

In the 10th minute, the Zorros attacked the Cañoneros, when Luis Reyes gave a pass to Julio Furch, who shot but his shot went wide but announced that the home team was already looking for a goal.

But despite Atlas' attempts, at the 30th minute, an error in the Atlas' exit gave the ball to Marco Fabián, who played a great service to Gonzalo Sosa, who, alone in front of Camilo Vargas, scored excellently.

But at minute 43, Sosa repeated the dose when, thanks to Fabián's corner kick, he headed the ball in, and with his double, silence reigned at the Jalisco Stadium

With this, Mazatlán was undoubtedly the surprise of the tournament, having defeated the current Mexican soccer champion and one of the strong candidates for the title, but this defeat distanced Atlas from direct qualification.

Julio Furch scored but was sent off

On the Zorros' side, Julio Furch did the same and scored a goal with which he hoped to close the gap against the Cañoneros. His goal came in the 51st minute when Jefferson Intriago committed a handball in his area.

The play was reviewed in the VAR, which resulted in the penalty being decreed, so Furch was chosen to take the shot, which he did excellently, to make it 1-2 on the scoreboard.

But in the end, this goal was not enough to equalize the match, so the Zorros were defeated by the Cañoneros.

Atlas thus missed out on a direct pass to the Liguilla, so they will have to find a way to get another 3 points in Round 15 of the tournament, and hope that other teams do not do the same.

Even so, in the match, they were not only defeated by Mazatlán but in the 81st minute, there was a terrible foul by Julio Furch on Brian Rubio in the midfield, for which the referee did not hesitate and gave him a red card.
