The news that "El Jefe", as he is known in Liga MX, was hospitalized, was also spread thanks to the TV program Pasión Futbolera in which Andrés, the coach's son, works.

Due to his absence from the driver's program, his program partner Antonio Nelli commented that Andrés had to go on a trip since his father, Tomás Boy, had suffered from this heart problem since the weekend.

Tomas Boy as player

Tomás Boy's career can be separated into two main areas: first as a player and then as a coach.

As a player, Boy began his career at Atlético Español in 1970, and later, he would arrive at Atlético Potosino, to finally be transferred to Tigres in 1975, a club in which he would achieve his best performance as a player.

For the Felinos, Boy would win the Copa México in 1976 and would also win the Mexican First Division title twice, first in the 1977-1978 campaign, and would repeat the feat in 1981-1982.

In Tigres, he would become the top scorer in the history of the club, and his record would only be broken by Frenchman André Pierre-Gignac until very recently.

In addition to these achievements, Boy was part of the Mexican soccer team that participated in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, the only tournament in which this national team has reached the quarterfinals of the competition.

He would then return to Mexico to direct Tampico Madero, Querétaro, Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, Monarcas Morelia, Monterrey, Puebla, Atlas, Cruz Azul, Guadalajara and Mazatlán FC, which was his last team as coach in the 2020-2021 campaign.
