Even if Tigres were one of the most consistent teams in Clausura 2022, they weren’t able to transcend, as they were eliminated in semifinals by Atlas FC, team that ended up becoming Liga MX champion for the second season in a row.

The elimination became a new failure for Miguel Herrera, who hasn’t been able to win a Liga MX title since 2018, when he was coaching Club América. But he knows that there won’t be any more chances to succeed, especially with a team with a roster and a budget as big as Tigres.

That’s why, according to reports from RG La Deportiva, Tigres is an option for Gareth Bale, now that he became a free agent after eight years playing for Real Madrid, but Herrera knows that in order for Bale to arrive, they also need a new striker to join him.

Are they looking to replace Gignac?

André-Pierre Gignac has become the symbol of Tigres, as the Frenchman has scored 167 goals and has assisted on 40 occasions in the 293 games that he’s played wearing Tigres’s colors, but he’s also getting close to his retirement date, as he already is 36 years old.

That’s why Herrera is thinking ahead and wants to sign a striker that not only can join Gareth Bale next season, but also become a referent of Los Felinos in the upcoming years. According to reports from Sancadilla Norte, that player is Juan Ignacio Dinenno.

Dinenno has become the best player of Pumas, as he was the Golden Boot of the CONCACAF Champions League, where he scored nine goals in eight games. Tigres can pay the $4.5 million that Pumas are asking for the striker, but they are hoping to trade Carlos González instead, as they want to part ways with the Paraguayan striker.
