Pumas UNAM pocketed close to US$3.5 million for the sale of Alan Mozo to Chivas, an operation that will allow the board to not only buy one or two reinforcements but also to have a "cushion" to continue operating in red numbers.

According to ESPN, the terms of the agreement were that the team from Guadalajara will pay 5 million dollars to the Pedregal team, which has had to take in exchange the purchase of César "Chino" Huerta for 1.5 million USD.

Although this was not a swap and both clubs sought to negotiate separate transactions between Mozo and Huerta, according to ESPN, it was a "conditional" transaction, meaning that Alan's sale was made to Chivas because Pumas agreed to purchase "Chino" for the aforementioned US$1.5 million.

Both clubs announced the departures of Mozo and Huerta on their social networks this morning, while Chivas announced the 25-year-old right-back as a reinforcement. In fact, while the former Puma was on a flight to Guadalajara, the former Chiva was flying to Mexico City.

This type of operation was similar to the Antuna-Alvarado operation

This type of operation is similar to the one carried out by Chivas and Cruz Azul six months ago when they exchanged 50 percent of the pass of Uriel Antuna to La Máquina, and Roberto Alvarado to the Rebaño, but with the condition that Alejandro Mayorga would go on loan for one year with an option to buy to the club from La Noria.

As in every transfer market for the past two years, Club Universidad has had to sell one of its most beloved players or one of its most consistent players in the first team in order to make cash and keep its finances in balance.

This happened with Carlos González, sold to Tigres in December 2020 in exchange for 7 million dollars, and then in the summer of 2021 with the departures of Juan Pablo Vigón to Tigres (3 million dollars) and Johan Vásquez to Genoa (4 million dollars), while Erik Lira was also sold to Cruz Azul in December 2021 (4 million dollars).
