Apertura 2022 will start one month from today and teams are still looking to strengthen before starting their preseason workouts, including Cruz Azul, who have yet to train under Diego Aguirre’s coaching staff for the first time.
The culprit behind the Cruz Azul logo change
Although during his presentation, Aguirre said that he’s not searching for new additions as he first wants to know the strengths of the players on the current roster, reports from sports journalist Ignacio Suárez informed that Cruz Azul is one of the possible destinations for Edinson Cavani.
Cavani, who recently became a free agent after spending the last two years with Premier League side Manchester United, was offered to two Liga MX clubs, including Cruz Azul, as they have the means to pay for the salary that his agent is requesting.
Cavani knows that he has options for arriving at MLS but given that Liga MX has a higher competition level, and he wants to be ready for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he’s considering arriving at Mexican soccer for at least a year.
And given that he hasn’t been a player known for being eccentric, the only things he’s requesting to join Cruz Azul, aside from a good salary, is having a house away from the city and a car to move around, things that La Máquina is able to provide comfortably.
What Diego Aguirre has to achieve with Cruz Azul to avoid being fired
