Even though Cruz Azul has started Clausura 2022 on the right foot, as they’ve won the two games they’ve played so far and the additions they had during the offseason are paying off, La Máquina are still on the market looking for a new defender.

So far, Cruz Azul has managed to keep two clean sheets, but Juan Reynoso is thinking ahead, as Los Cementeros will be disputing CONCACAF Champions League this semester, starting in February against Forge FC, from the Canadian Premier League.

That’s why Cruz Azul already made a first offer for Flamengo’s defender Leó Pereira, although Mengao declined it as it wasn’t close to what they’re asking for Peireira’s economic rights. They’re not closed to let him go but that’ll only happen if it’s an irrefutable offer.

Leó Pereira’s numbers with Flamengo

The 25-year-old Brazilian center back joined Flamengo back in 2020, after Fla paid $10 million to Club Athletico Paranaense. He’s under contract until 2024 and so far, has played a total of 62 games with Flamengo, scoring only one goal and assisting on another occasion.
