The teams that qualified directly for the Liguilla were Pachuca, Tigres, Atlas and América, while those that qualified through the playoffs were Cruz Azul, Atlético San Luis, Puebla and Chivas de Guadalajara.

Among the matches that stand out the most is the clash between Tigres and Cruz Azul, second place against eighth place, Miguel Herrera against Juan Reynoso, and Gignac against Giménez. Undoubtedly a great series to watch in the quarterfinals.

The Cementeros will be looking for revenge against Miguel Herrera, who defeated them in the final of the Clausura 2014 in dramatic fashion and where the Mexican coach became famous for his way of celebrating.

The revenge that Cruz Azul could have against Miguel Herrera, who is now in charge of Tigres, could lead to a Clasico Nacional between America and Chivas in the semifinals.

How could the Clasico Nacional happen if Cruz Azul beats Tigres?

The match keys are as follows:

(1) Pachuca vs. (10) Atlético de San Luis: First leg Wednesday 11 (7:00 p.m.) and return Saturday 14 (8:05 p.m.)

(2) Tigres vs. (8) Cruz Azul: First leg Thursday 12 (7:00 p.m.) and return leg Sunday 15 (8:05 p.m.).

(3) Atlas vs. (6) Chivas: First leg Thursday 12 (9:05 p.m.) and return leg Sunday 15 (6:00 p.m.).

(4) América vs. (5) Puebla: First leg Wednesday 11 (9:05 p.m.) and return leg Saturday 14 (6:00 p.m.).

If Cruz Azul manages to get revenge on Miguel Herrera and beat Tigres, to trigger the Clasico Nacional between America and Chivas, Pachuca would have to beat Atletico San Luis and America and Chivas win their respective playoffs, the Azulcremas against Puebla, and the Rojiblancos against Atlas.

With this Cruz Azul rematch, the Celestes would give Mexico the most important match in the history of Mexican soccer.
