Club América didn’t wait any longer and decided to part ways with Santiago Solari after Las Águilas couldn’t beat CF Querétaro on Tuesday night in Estadio Azteca, when they couldn’t help to do anything else than seeing how Ángel Sepúlveda tied the game with a last-minute penalty kick.

How was América left after Solari's departure and who will be his replacement?

On Wednesday morning, Santiago Solari met with Santiago Baños and Emilio Azcárraga on what was his last day as Las Águilas coach. Now, Club América is looking for a coach that can replace him for the remainder of Clausura 2022.

Solari couldn’t help América leave the bottom of the table in what has become their worst start in a Liga MX season since the 1957-58 season, when they only had two points after seven rounds. For now, Solari left Las Águilas with six points after eight rounds.

The bright side for Club América’s roster is that they finally had two games in a row without being defeated, a sign that they’re slowly improving, and whichever is the coach that takes over the team will be able to build from there.

Who are they expecting to arrive in El Nido?

Reports are linking Las Águilas to multiple coaches, some of the names goes from Juan Carlos Osorio to Marcelo Bielsa, and although Santiago Baños has a favorite and América followers want a different coach, they’re currently in conversations with Robert Dante Siboldi.

Siboldi could arrive in Coapa to replace Solari until the end of the season, as Club América are targeting Nicolás Larcamón as their next manager, given what the Argentine has done with Club Puebla, who currently are Liga MX leaders although they’re the team with lowest market value.

Siboldi’s numbers as a coach

His name was linked to CF Monterrey a few days ago, after Rayados also sacked their coach. Robert Dante Siboldi has been without a club since September of last year, after Xolos de Tijuana parted ways with him.

He has a vast experience in Liga MX, as he’s coached in Mexican soccer since 2006, although he’s mostly remembered by his stint with Santos Laguna, where he became Liga MX champion in 2018, when Los Guerreros beat Toluca by a 3-2 aggregate.
