Even if Club América is focused on the quarterfinals games that they will play against Club Puebla, first in Estadio Cuauhtémoc on Wednesday night and then in Estadio Azteca on Saturday night, Las Águilas are also starting to plan what will be the 2022-23 season.

One of the movements that they are planning on doing is parting ways with Bruno Valdez, as the Paraguayan center back has been irregular in the last couple of seasons, as he has focused more on attacking than fulfilling his main role on the defense.

Although he has become Club América’s top-scorer defender in the history of the team -surpassing the 26 goals that Alfredo Tena scored during the 80s-, he has been involved in multiple mistakes that have costed Las Águilas some points, especially when Santiago Solari was still coaching them.

As if that wasn’t enough, prior Clausura 2022, he requested to be transferred as he wasn’t feeling happy in América but decided to wait until the summer transfer window to see if he adapted to the system of the new coach.

A Liga MX is after him

The 29-year-old center-back arrived at Liga MX in 2016 out of Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño, when Club América paid $3.3 million for his economic rights. Now, six years after he joined Las Águilas, he’s close to ending his stint in El Nido.

According to reports from RG La Deportiva, Bruno Valdez is in Tigres’s radar, as they are looking for a new defender that has an offensive vocation like him, as Los Felinos are one of the most offensive teams in Liga MX.

Miguel Herrera has requested the arrival of Valdez at Tigres for the 2022-23 Liga MX Season as he knows him well from his stint with Club América, something that increases the possibilities for the Paraguay international to wear Los Felinos colors next season.

How much will they have to pay for Valdez?

Bruno Valdez is under contract with Club América until the end of next season, which makes the summer transfer window the perfect opportunity for selling him and recover the investment before he can start negotiating as a free agent. If Tigres were to acquire him, they will have to pay $4.2 million for his transfer.
