Club América received CF Pachuca in Estadio Azteca for the first leg of the semifinals of Clausura 2022 on a game that ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to the goals of Diego Valdés, who opened the score at 58’ and Nicolás Ibañez, who scored the equalizer after 82 minutes via penalty kick.

Federico Viñas hasn’t fully healed but he was a starter in the Club América vs Pachuca

Club América had a few opportunities to score at least another goal, especially during the first half, but the lack of aim that has characterized Federico Viñas in the current season prevented them from playing the second leg with the advantage on the score.

With the current score, it would be Pachuca who wins the series and earns the ticket to the final, as the position on the table benefits Pachuca, given that Los Tuzos ended the regular season as leaders of Clausura 2022.

Regardless of the outcome in the second leg, it became evident that Las Águilas need a more reliable striker than the two that they currently have, as even if Viñas has become the favorite forward for Fernando “Tano” Ortíz, a new addition could move him second to the list.

Las Águilas already have a replacement for him

Given the lack of productivity that Club América strikers had during the season, Viñas only scored one goal and Henry Martín three plus one on Liguilla, Las Águilas are looking for a new striker for Apertura 2022.

According to reports form W Deportes Radio, Las Águilas are interested in acquiring Julio Furch from Atlas FC, as the Argentine striker has been one of the most reliable attackers in Liga MX since he arrived back in 2015.

In the current season, Julio Furch has scored five goals, one of his lowest numbers in the seven years he’s played in Mexican soccer, although those numbers are enough to surpass what both Viñas and Martín did together.

América, interested in swapping players

But the interest of Las Águilas in Furch doesn’t stop there, as they are willing to swap strikers with Atlas, as well as including a monetary compensation. América would send Federico Viñas plus $5 million to the Rojinegros to acquire Julio Furch.
