For the 2021 MLS Season, the 32-year-old striker earned a base salary of $4.5 million, although he received a guaranteed compensation of $6.3 million, making him the highest paid player in the MLS, but for the current season, according to reports, LAFC has lowered his base salary to $3.8 million, with a max guaranteed of $4.5 million.

This indicates that Carlos Vela is not seemed as valuable as he was in earlier seasons, although he still is in the top 10 highest paid MLS players, something that Club América could take advantage of and try to acquire him, as they’ve been linked to Vela before.
