One of the best things that Santiago Solari did during his time in Club América was the acquisition of Álvaro Fidalgo, player that he knew well from his stint in Real Madrid Castilla, where Fidalgo was one of the players that he most liked when he coached the Merengues academy team.

Santiago Solari earned $2.5 million in Club América; what will be Fernando Ortíz’s salary?

Although Solari left Club América at the bottom of the table with only six points after eight rounds of Clausura 2022, Álvaro Fidalgo has remained as one of Las Águilas’s most consistent players since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz took over the team.

For the 2021-22 season, the 25-year-old midfielder has missed just one game, against Toluca in Apertura 2021. Fidalgo has started in 31 of the 33 games he’s played, including the two legs of the quarterfinals against Pumas, where Las Águilas were eliminated by a 3-1 aggregate.

In total, Fidalgo has played a total of 52 games wearing Las Águilas colors, scoring six goals and assisting five times, although his biggest contribution is in the creation. His outstanding performances have made an attractive target for European teams who are already planning their next season.

Will Fidalgo leave Las Águilas?

The name that Fidalgo has earned in Club América in the 18 months he’s played in Liga MX have increased his market value, as just under a year ago he was worth $1 million and now has increased up to $4 million.

But that hasn’t stopped La Liga teams from evaluating his addition, especially teams from the middle of the table that want to strengthen their squad for next season and battle for the spots that grant access to UEFA tournaments.

Fidalgo is aware of the interest he’s gathered from a few La Liga teams, and even if he wants to return to Spain in the near future, he already established to himself one condition before accepting any offers from his home country.

What’s the condition he established?

According to reports from Diario Récord, the 25-year-old Spanish midfielder wants to give back something to the team that believed in him and that has relaunched his career, which is why he doesn’t plan on leaving Club América until he wins a Liga MX title with them.
