Unlike Héctor Herrera, who already agreed to join MLS side Houston Dynamo now that the 2021-22 La Liga season is over, his now-former Atlético Madrid teammate Luis Suárez is still analyzing which will become his new home.

Luis Suárez arrived at Atlético out of FC Barcelona, and he played two seasons in Wanda Metropolitano where he helped the Colchoneros to win a La Liga title seven years after David Villa lead them to their prior championship.

Now, the 35-year-old Uruguayan striker has become a free agent and is pondering his options to continue his career, as he knows that he needs to keep playing at a high level if he wants to arrive at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in his best shape.

Although Liga MX might not be on his top options, there is a possibility of him arriving at Club América, as the Azulcremas have been lacking a striker for the past year as well as an addition that breaks the market, which is why Suárez has become the player that can give them both things.

What will need to happen for Suárez to arrive at Club América?

One of the things that plays in favor of Club América is that the coach of the Uruguayan national team, Diego Alonso, is very familiar with Liga MX, as he coached CF Pachuca and CF Monterrey, and he knows of the quality of the league and the players.

If Luis Suárez were to arrive at Liga MX, Diego Alonso would still consider him for the final roster that he takes to Qatar 2022, checking one of the boxes of things that Suárez’s next team needs to fulfill, as he needs to play in a league that will keep him in the radar of La Celeste.

The lack of regularity that Las Águilas’s strikers have had during the past season would place him immediately as the starting striker for Club América, something that will give him the regularity needed. The only problem that Las Águilas will have to face is the high salary that he earns, although Guillermo Ochoa could help them to manage that.

How will Ochoa help pay Suárez’s salary?

Although in Atlético Madrid he earned $15 million per season, Las Águilas could negotiate an attractive salary that is in their possibilities and get their sponsors to pay a part of it, a deal that Ochoa could help finalize given that he’s an investor of Kavak, one of the main sponsors of Club América as well as Mexico National Team.
