When Álvaro Fidalgo arrived at Club América, few people knew who he was and fewer believed in him, as the Spanish midfielder arrived out of CD Castellón, a team that plays in Spain’s third division, where he ended up signing after Real Madrid Castilla decided to not renew him.

But since the first day he wore Las Águilas colors, he became one of the players that stood out the most in the Azulcrema team, thanks to Santiago Solari, who knew him and his capabilities from his stint as coach of RM Castilla.

And even after the bad results that the Argentine coach had during the first half of Clausura 2022 that lead to his eventual departure, Fidalgo remained as one of the most consistent players in Club América, something that earned him a spot in Fernando “Tano” Ortíz’s starting XI.

Now that Las Águilas are in the semifinals of Clausura 2022, where they will face the leader of the regular season CF Pachuca, the 25-year-old midfielder could be living his last few games as a Club América player given the interest of one team for returning him to Europe.

Which team wants to sign him over the summer?

The good performances he’s had during the past 18 months with Las Águilas have placed him in the radar of a few La Liga teams, all of them on the on the middle or bottom of the table, according to reports from Sancadilla.

But there’s one team that has taken the lead: Rayo Vallecano, as several reports from Spanish media outlets suggest that the Vallecas team is close to signing Santiago Solari as their new coach for the 2022-23 La Liga Season.

If Solari ends up returning to La Liga and given that he was the one who requested the arrival of Fidalgo to Las Águilas, one of his first movements will be to reinforce the midfield of the Franjirrojos with the Spanish midfielder.

How much will they have to pay for his addition?

When he arrived at Club América, his market value was set at $313,000, but given the outstanding performances he’s had with Las Águilas, it has increased up to $4.2 million in less than two years, a sum that Rayo Vallecano will have to pay if they want to acquire the Oviedo-born.
