The strong reaction of Mikel Arriola, the president of the tournament, is because the situation got out of control and put at risk not only the players but also the families who came to the field to watch the game.

The barras are groups of fans of clubs, who in an organized and structured way attend matches in groups to support their teams, but who continually resort to violence to attack the barras, or fans of other clubs.

They are a kind of hooligans, but the name barras is applied to them on the American continent.

What did Mikel Arriola, the president of Liga MX say about the incident?

Mikel Arriola, the president of Liga MX strongly condemned the altercation and pledged to punish those responsible for security at the stadium

In a tweet that the official released shortly after the situation got out of control, he said:

"Inadmissible and regrettable violence in the stadium la Corregidora de Querétaro. Those responsible for the lack of security at the stadium will be punished in an exemplary manner. The safety of our players and fans is a priority! We will continue to keep you informed.

Shortly after this tweet, Arriola confirmed that the match would not be resumed to ensure the safety of everyone in the stadium.

How did the confrontation between the Pachuca and Atlas barras begin?

At the 60th minute of the match, everything was going normally, however, at that moment, barras from both teams began to invade the field of play, due to a pitched battle that had started between both sectors in the stands.

The conflict began 15 minutes into the second half of the match, in the stands of the Estadio Corregidora, and in panic, many spectators began to enter the field to avoid being attacked by the barras.

Upon seeing this situation, the referees and other authorities present on the field decided to take the players to the dressing rooms and interrupt the match for the safety of the teams.

However, seeing that the access to the field was open to giving refuge to the people who wanted to flee from the violence in the stands, the barras entered the field to continue their fight there.

What will happen with the Pachuca vs Atlas match after it was interrupted?

So far it is known that the match will be rescheduled, but the conditions under which this will take place are unknown.

The situation became so serious that even the VAR module was damaged by the barras.

In one of the tensest moments of the match, Washington Aguerre, the goalkeeper of the Gallos Blancos tried to calm down the barras, so that the violence would not continue in the stadium.
