Amaury Vergara doesn’t want to fire Marcelo Michel Leaño for this reason

Marcelo Michel Leaño has been able to stay in Chivas dugout for longer than seven other coaches that have been sacked in Clausura 2022, even if his numbers are similar to the ones that Santiago Solari, Beñat San José, Pedro Caixinha, Leo Ramos, Pablo Guede, Javier Aguirre and Marcelo Méndez had.

Chivas could part ways with Marcelo Michel Leaño and have their new coach thanks to Club América

Since his arrival in El Rebaño’s dugout during Apertura 2021, Michel Leaño has coached 16 games, in which he’s only acquired 17 points out of the 48 available, as he’s only managed to win four games and draw five, losing the remainder seven.

But even with the poor results he’s had in the four months he’s been coaching Chivas, Amaury Vergara doesn’t seem to be too concerned and hasn’t showed any signs of pressuring Michel Leaño to turn things around.

His stay in Chivas’ bench has manifested the lack of power that Ricardo Peláez has inside El Rebaño, as he’s in charge of the sporting decisions, something that he hasn’t done since Marcelo Michel Leaño was promoted from the academy teams, as he wasn’t able to acquire any new players other than Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado.

But Michel Leaño’s permanence has also showed that there’s something else holding Amaury Vergara from firing him, as he sacked José Manuel Vucetich for bad results even if “Vuce” had better numbers than the ones Michel Leaño currently has.

What’s the reason for which Vergara doesn’t fire Michel Leaño?

According to reports from Peloteros PQ, there’s two main reasons that have maintained Michel Leaño in Chivas’ dugout. The first one has to do with the relationship they have, as it’s known that they were friends before Vergara took over Chivas when Jorge Vergara died.

Michel Leaño knows how to win Vergara’s favor, as he usually praises and compliments him, something that has made Amaury forget about the results on the pitch as he’s rather have his ego boosted than focusing on managing the team.

The second reason has to do with money, as it’s known that the Leaño family has a long history with Mexican soccer -they owned Estudiantes Tecos for a long time-, which is why they have given monetary help to Vergara to keep Chivas going, hence securing Marcelo’s position in El Rebaño’s dugout.
