Former Arsenal player and England international Jack Wilshere, 30, who had been without a club for eight months, will play the remainder of the season for Danish side AGF. Wilshere made his Arsenal debut at the age of 16 and became one of the most promising players in English soccer, but his career has been marked by injuries.

How many clubs has Cristiano Ronaldo scored for in his career?

The midfielder left Arsenal in 2018 to join West Ham, from where he moved to English second-tier Bournemouth, where he remained until last summer.

Wilshere, who had been training with Arsenal in recent months, has 34 senior caps and played for England at the 2014 World Cup.

Wilshere's statements

"I'm at a point in my career where I need to start again after a difficult period and that opportunity has been given to me by Aarhus," said the midfielder, who has hit a rough patch and was training with Arsenal as a favor, but with no chance of returning to the club that saw him make his Premiership debut.

"Since I started training with Arsenal, I never hid the fact that I was ready for 2022 and for a new club, I am very grateful and I will do my best to live up to expectations," Wilshere said.

The footballer recounted his torment a couple of months ago, finding himself just 29 years old, sidelined from soccer, and not receiving calls from English and European clubs. "I think there's a preconceived opinion of me, and that's the response I've received from some clubs: he's a great player, but he's going to get injured," he told 'Under The Surface Podcast'.

The former British child prodigy vindicated himself and demanded an opportunity that is finally coming to him in Denmark: "I haven't had any injuries since before the confinement and the last one wasn't serious. I have continued to train every day. When I was at Bournemouth I was available to play every game. Give me a chance. Let me prove that I am fit."

A difficult situation to explain to his family

I have a 10-year-old son who is crazy about soccer, he loves it, and he watches the news on Sky Sports News. He understands soccer, but it's very complicated to tell him about it. It's hard to explain to him what's going on. He always asks me if I have a club yet or if anyone wants me, and I say no. I think that's all I can do. I think that's all I can tell him. I have to be honest with him," Wilshere said at the time.

And not only his son but also his wife deserved an explanation of what was happening: "I asked her to let me know when it was enough, that I would stop training on my own and maybe try something else". It even seemed like that time had come for him when he started the trainer's course. "Right now I'm doing my coaching courses and the team is helping me with it. It's something I enjoy and will think about in the future, but for now I still want to play," he explained on Sky Sports.
