Benzema reportedly set to leave Real Madrid at end of season

Karim Benzema was the living image of desperation in Madrid's loss to PSG in the Champions League. The striker was unhinged in some phases of the match and had several confrontations with his teammates to ask them to increase the intensity.

Benzema knows his days at Madrid are coming to an end

Benzema is clear that his time at Madrid could come to an end if he does not end up making a difference this season, as Florentino Perez is clearly betting on a renewal in the front line with the signing of Haaland and he would be the main casualty.

The French striker knew that a lot was at stake in this tie and could hardly get into the game. In fact, Benzema did not score a single shot on goal and went absolutely unnoticed. 

Madrid were an absolute disaster in the creation of play and that hurt them but the reality is also that Benzema could not be a differential asset in the most important game of the season and that may end up marking him.

Benzema unhappy with Florentino's handling of contract renewal situation

The French striker and his entourage are somewhat annoyed with Madrid and Florentino Perez. He has a contract until 2023, but they expected a gesture from the club to renew for another year and they have not had it. They sense that Madrid want to sell him this summer when he still has a year left on his contract at the age of 35. 

In the summer transfer window Florentino Perez would prioritize entering by a player who considers that it is amortized, as happened with Cristiano Ronaldo. The idea is to replace him with Haaland and it is clear that if the Norwegian arrives, Benzema will have no place in the team. A more than possible elimination against PSG would totally open the doors of the club.
