The numbers that proves Lionel Messi deserves 2021 Ballon d'Or

The Ballon d'Or award presentation will be holding tonight. After taking a break last year due to the pandemic that disrupt the football season calendar. 

Lionel Messi is expected to clinch his seventh Balloon d'Or after having a very successful year winning the Copa America with Argentina after several attempt. He has 32 goals and 12 assist for clubs in this year. 

His performance in the Copa America earn Argentina their first national title after many decades and he was able to qualify them for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has scored a total of nine goals and five assists for Argentina in 2021.

His tally for both country and club in the year is 41 goals and 17 assist which translate to 58 goals contributions in a calendar year, which is far better than most of the award nominee with the exception of Robert Lewandoski.
