Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been the best soccer players of the last 15 years. The two amazing talents now at 36 and 34 respectively have continued to be impressive despite their age and have evolved their game to suit their physical conditions.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United at the beginning of the season and has been brilliant individually but United have struggled both domestically and continentally which has led to the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjær and first the appointment of Michael Carrick as caretaker and now Ralf Rangnick as interim manager.

Ralf Rangnick spearheaded the development of RB Leipzig to move the club from Germany fourth tier to the Bundesliga in four years. In 2016 when the club were promoted to the Bundesliga, Rangnick was asked if he could take any of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo but he said they were too old.

"It would be absurd to think that it could work with them here at Leipzig. They are both too old and too expensive." Rangnick said in 2016. If Ronaldo was deemed old at 31, would Rangnick want him at 36? Unfortunately, Rangnick has just six months to spend as coach and will not touch Ronaldo.
