Fifteen years ago, soccer was welcoming Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the biggest stars of the future. But now, in 2021, they are on the last part of their careers, and we are already talking about the new prospects what will rule the world of this sport in the upcoming years. Let’s have a closer look.

Taking 2001 as the earliest year of birth for players who are properly considered ‘Under 20’, names like Erling Braut Haaland, Phil Foden, Alphonso Davies and Jaydon Sancho are ruled out of the list. Barcelona’s new star Pedri is opening the podium with a reported value of €50 million ($60.5 million) in this current month, as per Transfermarkt.

Not so famous, but soon to be a world star, Eduardo Camavinga shows up in second place with a peculiar life story. He was born in 2002 in Angola to Congolese parents who escaped from the war in their country. He holds both nationalities but given he was raised in France playing for Rennes, he holds this one too and has already become the youngest goal scorer ever for Les Bleus. He made his debut in the senior team last September against Croatia and scored in October against Ukraine. His transfer market value is €60 million, or $72.6 million.

The top of the top is awarded to Bissau-Guinean born Ansu Fati. The Barcelona winger was also born in 2002, in Guinea-Bissau but moved with his family to Sevilla. He was grabbed by Barcelona when he was 10 years old and made his debut before turning 17 years old, in 2019. He made his debut for Spain’s senior national team. Just like Camavinga, he became his country’s youngest goal scorer ever by netting against Ukraine. His transfer market value is €80 million ($96.8 million).

What about Gio Reyna? He is in seventh position in the list, behind Mason Greenwood, Rodrygo and Bukayo Saka, with a transfer market value of €30 million, or $36.3 million. He is also a player who has already made his international debut.
