PSG's impressive reception of Messi on his Ligue 1 debut vs. Reims

Lionel Messi made his Paris Saint-Germain debut in a two-nil win over Reims with goals from Mbappé. Here's the highlights of Messi's first match for PSG.

Lionel Messi, six-time Ballon d'Or winner, made his debut for Paris Saint-Germain. When PSG was already beating Reims two-nil with goals from Mbappé. The entire stadium gave the Argentinian a standing ovation when he came on in the second half. Messi showed good soccer and shone alongside Mbappé in Paris' forward line.

The Argentine came on 20 minutes into the second half, replacing Neymar who looked lacking in soccer and shared the lead with Kylian Mbappé, the scorer of PSG's two goals. Messi watched the first half from the substitutes' bench alongside Leandro Paredes. In the second half, the striker started the warm-up and the crowd burst into applause. 

Reims had some scoring chances but could not beat Keylor Navas' goal. They generated danger in the first moments of the game. But by dint of soccer and one of PSG's winning formulas: Angel Di Maria sent in a great cross from the right and Kylian Mbappé appeared in the six-yard box to head home to make it 1-0 for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

In the 62′ minute and after a great run down the right, Achraf Hakimi sent the cross low and again Mbappé arrived for his second goal. While the PSG players were celebrating, Pochettino was talking to Lionel Messi and encouraging him to show his full potential in the minutes he had left on the pitch. Messi replaced Neymar and the stadium gave a standing ovation to the Argentine who until that moment had only played for Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain won in style and now has four wins in four games. Pochettino's team leads the table. Pochettino's team leads the table with 12 points. On the next matchday, PSG will host Clermont and it will be Messi's debut in front of his fans. On September 11 after the FIFA dates due to the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup,
