Manchester City and RB Leipzig played a thrilling nine goal encounter last night in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League Group A encounter. Ditch defender Nathan Aké opened the scoring in the 16th minute and shortly after his sick father passed away, as revealed by Aké in an Instagram post.

Nathan Aké joined Manchester City at the beginning of last season but struggled with injuries and inconsistency. He was trusted by Pep Guardiola to start the crucial game and he took the opportunity by opening the scoring, but it was a mix of glorious moment and heartbreaking moment for him.

As told by Aké in the Instagram post, his ailing father died in the company of his mother and brother a few minutes after he scored his goal. A moment he's supposed to cherish for life was not without a blemish but he'd be happy he at least saw him score a Champions League goal before he passed on.

Manchester City moved into pole position in the tough group that also included Paris Saint Germain and Club Brugge by winning 6-3, while Paris Saint Germain with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé drew 1-1 with Belgian club Club Brugge.
